Tik Tok 100 hour brownies are a deep dark chocolate dessert. Make as Cake Mix Brownies or homemade with our recipe here.
This is the popular TikTok brownie recipe you may have seen on social media. With chocolate chips, resting for a few days to deepen the flavors, this treat is easy and cheap to make with your kids at home. (affiliate links present)
4 Day Brownies
The term 100-hour brownies doesn’t refer to a specific type of brownie recipe or a particular baking technique but rather how long it sits before eating. The idea of it is that over time the chocolate flavor will deepen and become stronger over time. Waiting 3-4 days wrapped tightly so they don’t dry out before taking a bite is the new rage on Tiktok.
You could do this with our Brownie Bread too. Most times with this one we will enjoy fresh, and in days later. In this case you can tell the difference in the depth of flavor over time I will say that. Wrapped tight to stay moist it is an interesting experiment to see how many days of resting is ideal for your family.
Tik Tok Brownies
You could use our Homemade Brownie Mix too for this if you wanted. Make this often? Just make and package the dry ingredients of this in baggies so there is less prep work for you going forward. Nuts can be added of course too if you like. I prefer nut-free desserts because of the texture but that is up to you.
- 1 c butter
- 2 c sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1.5 c all purpose flour
- 1 c unsweetened cocoa powder or half espresso powder for deep coffee twist
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 c chocolate chips mini are best
You could add Brownie Frosting to the top of each piece if you wanted to as well. I suggest if you plan on making this that you add right when it is served or it gets yucky. Keep in a sealed container in the fridge and with each slice, add a bit on top.
Fudgy Brownies
If you wanted the immediate deeper flavor to eat right out of the oven I would say our How to Make Cake with Hot Water is the closest in comparison. Alvin zhou made a version that was semi-homemade on Tasty so there are several versions you can make to start with. If you have a browned butter recipe go with that. It is the resting time that differentiates this.
- Preheat your oven to 325°F.
- Grease andline a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Once butter mixture is melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined. Let it cool for about 5-10 minutes.
- Beat the eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Or use our Egg Free Dairy Free Brownies mixture.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the milk chocolate chips (and nuts, if using). Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-33 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, cover the pan tightly with foil or plastic wrap and let the brownies rest at room temperature for 100 hours (about 4 days). Start at at least 24 hours before testing at all, really.
- This extended resting time allows the flavors to deepen and intensify.
After the 100 hours are up, carefully lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut the brownies into squares and serve. If you just cannot wait, I get it. You can get a taste of what we mean by these by cooling, wrapping and putting into the freezer for 30 minutes. Slice and try that for immediate yum.
How many days in advance can I make brownies?
If you plan to consume the brownies within 1-2 days, you can store them at room temperature in an airtight container or a sealed plastic bag. Be sure to allow them to cool completely before storing to prevent moisture buildup. For best results, slice and wrap each one tight in saran wrap and then store in freezer bag.
Refrigerator Brownies can be stored in the refrigerator for an extended period compared to room temperature. Place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap to prevent them from drying out. They should remain fresh for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
Freezing Brownies – If you want to prep them well in advance, you can freeze them. First, allow the brownies to cool completely. Then, cut them into individual portions or squares and wrap each piece tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Place wrapped in an airtight container or a freezer-safe bag, removing as much air as possible. Properly stored, they can be frozen for up to 2-3 months.
We will show you here why you actually should rest brownies for 4 days on the counter before you eat them!! Our 100 hour brownie recipe actually requires and encourages you to wrap them after baking and cooling to give it a fudgy and deep chocolate flavor.
