I love this fun recipe! My girls and I took an afternoon to try this viral treat and it was so much fun. Choose cornflakes, rice krispies or even frosted flakes to coat the outside to make it look authentic and keep it crispy and crunchy.

Now the easiest way to get this done is to just buy a tub of vanilla or the flavor of your choice. Unlike fried ice cream you might order at your local favorite Mexican restaurant, you don’t cook this at all. Instead, this is how to melt chocolate chips in microwave if you want additional yum.

Tik Tok Fried Chicken Ice Cream

Fried chicken ice cream” might sound like an unusual combination of flavors, but let’s go over a few variations you could make to the basic one we have here.

Variations

You can incorporate different crispy, crunchy elements mimicking the texture of fried skin. This could be achieved through the addition of crushed chips, cereal or even a candied coating. Add a drizzle of a tangy or savory sauce or a spiced maple syrup could create a whole new flavor experience. Other chicken shapes could be made this same way, without the candy stick “bone”.

Can you use any cereal to coat the outside?

You could but you want one that is going to be crispy and stick nicely so flat flakes are best to adhere well vs. round Kix or something like Cheerios. The best would be cornflakes just because the yellow color makes it look authentic but Frosted Flakes would work too.

How to Make Fried Chicken Ice Cream

    Tips

This will be cold, and needs to be a bit pliable so remove the ice cream about 20 minutes before creating chicken drumstick shape.

Use a piece of saran wrap or parchment paper on a cutting board. Use plastic wrap to mold the ice cream on top of the candy bars, twix bars are recommended because of the shape and size.

You will want to immediately roll vanilla ice cream into crushed cornflakes so it is still a bit wet to stick. Create some room for a pan full of ice cream drumsticks in your freezer until they are set.

    Instructions

    • It is best to freeze twix sticks before making these, for about 1 hour. It is best to wear gloves on your hands so that the ice cream does not melt so quickly. Line a plate or cutting board with cling film.
    • Everything must be done very quickly. Take 3-4 tablespoons of ice cream and use a twix stick to form it around the stick with your ice cream that will resemble a chicken leg.
    • Put formed pieces on a plate or board lined with parchment or saran wrap and put it in the freezer for at least 3 hours to harden.
    • Melt the white chocolate chips in microwave until smooth and let it cool slightly, but it is still liquid.
    • Transfer the crushed corn flakes to another bowl. Quickly dip the ice cream into the chocolate until it is as coated as possible, then roll in the corn flakes. Put back on the plate and in the freezer for another 2-3 hours to harden. Then enjoy.
