About Justine

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Health Education in 1998 (seems like a lifetime ago) and went on to finish my K-12 teaching certificate once my first daughter was born because I wanted to teach Kindergarten. I loved it so much I transitioned to 2nd grade until the summer before my second daughter was born. Then it was time to be a stay at home mommy for a while…….

About to brave the cold, a woman in a blue knit hat and pink sweater leans against a concrete wall outdoors on a snowy day.

Fast forward to September of 2012 when I had two daughters in school, and my third was about to start Kindergarten. It was then that I stumbled upon a blog and was intrigued. I was so curious to see if I could create one myself that I tackled it during nap time. With one tab to my new website open and the other open to a YouTube tutorial, the person who only knew how to open her email created her own blog!

The initial creation (looking back now) was very simple and not so great but did the job. I initially just shared free and fun activities to do with your kids in Southern California. It was such a hit I wanted to share family friendly recipes…..and thus The Typical Mom blog was created!

In 2018 we added our road trip blog to the list of resources as we moved to Idaho and love it so much we never left (and probably never will). Now my blog primarily focuses on family friendly recipes and kitchen hacks but our traveling adventures still exist so we can look back on those memories fondly (and so can you).

If you’d like to discuss networking opportunities, or just say hi, please send an email to: justine@thetypicalmom.com. I would love to hear from you.
