Preheat the oven to 375 F. Fry the chopped onion in butter for 5 minutes, then add the garlic and fry everything together for another 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside. Boil noodles until al dente, drain, set aside.
In a large bowl, mix boiled and drained pasta, sliced hot dogs, chicken or mushroom cream soup, 2/3 c of your grated cheese, salt, spices and fried onions and garlic. Mix everything and place in an 8x8 inch baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.
After half an hour, add the remaining cheese on top and bake the hot dog casserole for another 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and melted.
Serve the casserole hot or warm. Before serving, you can add extra cheese, as well as fresh chopped herbs.
