In a bowl, mix eggs and milk or buttermilk and melted butter. In another bowl mix together sugar, baking soda and salt with the all purpose flour. Incorporate and whisk together.
Add cornmeal. Whisk together. You will get a homogeneous mixture. Grease the waffle iron with 1 tbsp. butter, or spray well with non stick spray.
Pour batter into middle of each waffle plate, about 1/3-1/2 cup is typically about right per waffle. Lower down lid and cook for about 3 minutes or until it is golden browned on both sides. Serve with syrup.
