Pressure Cooker Sausage and Cabbage
Pressure cooker sausage and cabbage with noodles is a simple dinner idea that's packed with flavor. Served with parmesan cheese on top we all love it.
- 1/2 head cabbage cut into cubes, 2'x2' pcs
- 1 lb ground sausage I use half pound of Italian, 1/2 lb of spicy sausage
- 1/2 onion sliced or diced
- 1 tbsp garlic minced
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 c noodles uncooked, we used mostaccioli
- 1.5 c broth vegetable is what we used, if not adding noodles only use 3/4 c.
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Turn your pressure cooker to saute and add olive oil, sausage and diced onions.
Cook until sausage is no longer pink, then add garlic and mix together. Turn pot OFF and scrape bottom of pot to deglaze (can add a bit of your broth to make sure you get all bits off).
Add can of diced tomatoes and mix. Spread out on bottom of pot.
Add uncooked noodles to the top of that and do NOT mix. Pour your broth on top of your noodles. Put cubed / broken up cabbage leaves on the very top. Can omit noodles entirely if you don't want them, if not using noodles decrease broth to 3/4 c.
Close lid and steam valve and set to manual high pressure for 3 minutes.
Do a quick release, then stir contents if you've added noodles so they are mixed in well. Put lid back on and allow to sit for 3-5 minutes before serving so noodles soften a bit more mixed in.
Enjoy...great with some parmesan cheese on top!
