The Night Before Christmas Box is a great tradition we love to do in our family, see what I include that my kids love to open the night before Christmas.
I started a tradition two years ago called the night before Christmas Box where my kids got a present the night before Christmas arrived, around dinner time actually. It contained the following things to create a night full of fun we could remember and look forward to year after year
As they got older the items inside of course got larger but the items remained quite the same because you really can’t outgrow the idea of a new pair of snuggly jammies and a movie night together. You can alter it to your liking of course but this is what I traditionally include in the box that I wrap just like a present and everything is together, you can include a little tag with names if you think they’ll argue over who’s is who’s. they were: (affiliate links present, originally published 9/15)
Night before Christmas box
1. 1 pair of new Christmas themed pajamas ( Elf on the Shelf Pajamas here) for each child (& parents if I find them)
2. A Christmas movie all of us would enjoy (& hopefully haven’t seen before…Charlie Brown Collection is Great)
3. Ingredients to make a Christmas dessert that night – this pumpkin pudding cake is amazing
4. A box of popcorn
5. 1 special ornament per child/for the family
6. A box of hot cocoa mix
7. A bag of small marshmallows
(sometimes I will also include a new game if I find one, Qwirkle is our favorite)
This year I chose the above items: Ice Age Christmas movie, hot cocoa, marshmallows, Qwirkle game (great for all ages), smores brownie mix in a jar, pjs for all 3 kids. The year before I found an ornament for each of my girls that represented things they enjoyed that year instead of the game, it is very versatile….and a great night before Santa arrives gift!!
The other thing I recommend if you’re reading this before Dec. hits is breaking down and getting An Elf On The Shelf.….it has a great story and is a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday season (even my 13 y.o. gets into it, moving it the night before for her sisters). A book comes with The Elf on the Shelf but the DVD version is really cute too and fun to watch the night before.
