This year we decided to get Crafty!! We always make one ornament each year to remember that time, and this year we decided to have some fun with it.
I like to get my kids involved, not cost a lot of money to do, and not have a massive mess to clean up afterwards….this easy Christmas ornament craft did just that! I went to the local craft store to pick up the few things I needed: spray paint, multicolored poof balls, ribbon, and I had to buy pinecones since we live in Ca. and unfortunately palm trees don’t yield too many pine cones around here (would be perfect if you had a bunch in your yard, then this would be REALLY cheap and easy to do!)
When I got home I found a cardboard box to use to do the spraying (less mess), and put a plastic bag over my hand as I held the pinecone to spray it. Just took a few minutes to spray the 3 I needed, and they were dry by the time the kids got home from school!
I just got ribbon from the craft store, any style or color would do, and wrapped it around the top of the pinecone and tied it in a knot. Just snip the ends off to make it prettier and you are on your way!
Then, let the kids go at it with puff balls as they decorate their “Christmas Tree” ornament! Great part about this easy Christmas ornament craft is there is NO sticky glue required! That is right!! The spaces in between the pine cone are just the right size to push the “decorations” in and they won’t fall off. Really easy and fun Christmas pinecone ornament / craft to do with your kids, in the classroom, or with a Brownie troop maybe for the holidays!
